The Royal Society of Chemistry has provided 18 vouchers for 2014 which cover the Article Processing Charge (APC) for the Gold route to open access. These vouchers can be used for RSC papers accepted for publication in 2014, and are valid until the end of 2014.

Vouchers will be allocated by the Chemistry Librarian on a first-come-first-served basis, subject to confirmation by the applicant that no other funding is available, e.g. from the University’s Open Access fund (authors should check before applying for a voucher at https://www.openaccess.cam.ac.uk/) or another source.

There is a procedure that authors should follow to request and obtain the vouchers, which is outlined on the Chemistry Library’s website here: http://www-library.ch.cam.ac.uk/open_access/gold_for_gold.html.

Papers made open access through the Gold for Gold scheme will be listed on the Chemistry Library website and publicised on the Chemistry Library blog.

The Library has a New Home

Welcome back to the blog!

The reason for the silence has not been due to lack of news, but due to lack of time. Last July the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy started its move to its new home in West Cambridge, and the library was one of the last to move in September. What with all the planning and setting up and some change of staff, the blog got a little forgotten about.
But the library is here, somewhat smaller than before, but with the important books covering the department's teaching and research; a computer for searching and writing; space for working and revising; and a librarian who is happy to help out with searching, referencing and navigating your way around all the resources that the University and department pay for.

We will be closed for Easter (along with the rest of the department) Friday 18th April till Monday 21st April inclusive and the library will be unstaffed on Tuesday's as usual. But, we will be back on Wednesday 23rd for the start of the Easter term.
