Electronic Legal Deposit

Legal deposit legislation now extends to electronic media. Further details can be found at:

http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/deptserv/legaldeposit/

These helpful pages include FAQs for users.

How do I know what material is available via legal deposit?

Search the LibrarySearch catalogue as normal. The following statement denotes that the item is available via electronic legal deposit: "conditions of use: Available on designated PCs in University Library and Affiliated Libraries only".

The closest dedicated machine to the Materials Science Library, can be found in the reading room at the Central Science Library.

The Central Science Library (CSL) is conveniently located in the Arts School Building, accessible from the New Museums Site and Bene't Street.

Please ask if you require further information.

Central Science Library re-launches 'Scan and deliver'

If you might need to access journal articles or book chapters that are not available electronically and a hard copy is held at the Central Science Library, please read on.

Notices about the 'Scan and deliver' service are displayed in the Library and on the library notice board by the Tea Room.

Full details of the service, including charges, methods of payment, and online order form are available at:

For all those interested in Open Access ...

Have a look at this excellent blog post on the Open Access update session at this year's Libraries@Cambridge conference:

http://libatcam.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/parallel-session-1b-open-access-at.html

This session was thoroughly informative about open access at Cambridge and provides excellent background information. Thanks to the conference organisers, the speakers and the live blogger who have all helped to disseminate this important information.
